Today, May 28, 2024, the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its 5th General Membership Meeting at the Waterfront Hotel, Davao City, with a focus on “Doing Business with Canada: Canada’s Intensified Engagement in the Indo-Pacific Region.”
The event was graced by His Excellency Ambassador David Bruce Hartman of the Embassy of Canada to the Philippines, who served as the Guest of Honor and Resource Speaker. Ambassador Hartman was joined by Senior Trade Commissioner Mr. Guy Boileau and Trade Commissioner for Education and Agriculture Ms. Angel Cachuela. Mr.Julian Payne, Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, was also part of the Panel Discussion.
Ambassador Hartman shared valuable insights into the extensive business opportunities that Canada offers, particularly underlining the potential benefits for the Davao business community. He emphasized Canada’s strategic initiatives to strengthen economic ties within the Indo-Pacific region, highlighting sectors such as technology, agriculture, and renewable energy where collaboration could be particularly fruitful.
Prior to the GMM, a roundtable discussion was also held with a few of the Davao Chamber Officers, as well as identified business leaders in the City of Davao. Meaningful discussions on the sectors of Renewable Energy, Logistics, Agriculture, Tourism, Innovation, and Responsible Mining took place.
Davao City Chamber’s GMM provided an excellent platform for local business leaders to explore new avenues for trade and investment, fostering deeper economic engagement between Davao City and Canada.
